Vehicles in Germany's City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A senior official said the attack left him speechless and required to be solved quickly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
